There’s Beauty in Chalk on Asphalt

Last weekend we enjoyed volunteering for our 10th year at the Italian Street Painting Festival in downtown San Rafael, California. Since 1994, Youth in Arts has sponsored this fundraising event to support arts programs for students in Marin County schools.

This year, hundreds of artists from all over the world created more than 200 images in many styles. It’s a beautiful celebration of art, music and culture all for a cause we believe in.

I have always loved this event and have never seen it myself. Only pictures and they’re so lovely. Thank you for the reminder of how many people create beauty in this world.

As an artist and an art teacher to high school students I am so inspired that you are out in the community supporting the arts with and for our young people. Thank you! It’s so important to band together and lift and share the creative spirit!

I’m glad so many people are aware of this great community fundraiser for the arts in Marin. Check out the Youth In Arts web site for more on their campaign to increase funding for the arts in schools — http://www.youthinarts.org/
